আপনি কি এথনোসেন্ট্রিজম বা এথনোসেন্ট্রিক মানষিকতা সম্পর্কে জানেন? জাতীয়তাবাদ সম্পর্কে জানেন? আজকের এই আধুনিক যুগে সাদা কর্তৃক কালোদের যে নির্যাতন তা কিন্তু এই এথনোসেন্ট্রিক মানষিকতার জন্য পুরোপুরি দায়ি! আর এথনোসেন্ট্রিজম এবং জাতীয়তাবাদ কাছাকাছি দুটো শব্দ। এটাকে আবার cultural egocentrism ও বলে!।
আপনি কি অবাক হচ্ছেন? অবাক হতেই পারেন এই টার্মটি একটা জীবনঘনিষ্ঠ বিষয়। আপনি জেনে আরো অবাক হবেন যদি এ বিষয়ে একটা প্রকৃষ্ট উদাহরণ দেওয়া যেতে পারে যেমনঃ ধরুন "সামাজিক যোগাযোগ মাধ্যম হিসেবে আমরা যে ফেসবুক ব্যবহার করি সেটার ভিতরে আমাদের বিচরণ এথনোসেন্ট্রিজম বা এথনিক মানসিকতার একটা প্রবল দৃষ্টান্ত হতে পারে! কিন্তু কিভেবে? ধরেন আপনি সবার পোস্টে লাইক,কমেন্ট করেন না বা সামনে আসলেও অনেকটা ইচ্ছাকৃত ভাবে এড়িয়ে যান। অথবা আপনার পছন্দসই হয় না। অভারঅল আপনি আপনার পছন্দের ব্যক্তিদের বা আপনার বলয়ের বাইরে যেয়ে কিছু করেন না। কিংবা হতে পারে আপনি একজন সিনিয়র ব্যক্তিত্ব বা একজন শিক্ষক তখন আপনি আপনার লেভেল মেন্টেন করেন! হ্যাঁ এটাই হওয়া স্বাভাবিক। " কিন্তু ফলাফল......?
✅ এবার লক্ষ্য করুন এই মানষিকতার ফলে আপনি সহসায় অন্যকে এড়িয়ে যাচ্ছেন যার ফলে কেও আপনার সামনে অন্যায় কিছু করলেও আপনি বাধা দিচ্ছেন না আবার ভালো কিছু করলেও তাকে বাহবা দিচ্ছেন না!
✅ফলাফল কি দাড়াচ্ছে একজন উৎসাহ না পাওয়াই আগ্রহ হারাচ্ছে ভালো কাজ,ভালো লেখা,ভালো উদ্যোগ ভাটা পড়ছে!
✅অন্যদিকে বাধা না পাওয়ার ফলে খারাপ কাজ,খারাপ উদ্যোগের পরিমাণ বেড়ে চলেছে, তাই নয় কি?
✅এই মানষিকতার ফলে গোষ্ঠীগত মূল্যায়ন হয়, ভালো খারাপের বিশ্লেষণ হয় না।
✅কিন্তু আমরা যদি লেবেলের গন্ডি পেরিয়ে আসি আই মিন সিনিয়র, জুনিয়র, সুপিরিয়র,ইনফেরিয়র পর্যায় পেরিয়ে আসতে পারতাম তাহলে কিন্তু উভয় উভয় ব্যাপারটাতেই প্রভাব বিস্তার করতে পারতাম।
✅আজকে সাদা অ্যামেরিকান কতৃক কালো আফ্রিকান নির্যাতনের যে চিত্র আধুনিক বিশ্ব দেখলো তাই কিন্তু এই ethnocentric mentality বা ethnocentrism এর ফসল।
✅আর পুরো ব্যাপারটা আবার জাতীয়তাবাদ, অঞ্চলবাদ বা অন্যকোন বাদ থাকলে তার সাথে সামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ ????।
এবার আসুন সংজ্ঞায়নের দিকে যাওয়া যাক তাহলে পুরো ব্যাপারটা পরিস্কার হবে, তবে আপনি আমার ব্যাপারে ভিন্ন কিছু ভাবছেন না তো?

✅Ethnocentrism: Tending to view the world from the perspective of one’s own culture, sometimes with an assumption of superiority; limited as regards knowledge and appreciation of other cultures and communities. Also in a neutral sense: aware of membership of an ethnic group, community, or culture.
✅ Ethnocentrism is the belief that one's culture is superior to all other cultures. Ethnocentrism is a term which is mostly used in social sciences in reference to the act of believing that one's culture is superior to all other cultures.

মানে আপনিই সেরা অন্যরা সব চুনোপুঁটি! আপনারটাই সেরা অন্যের টা পচনশীল????
একটু ব্যাখ্যা করলে যা পাওয়া যায়ঃ
Ethnocentrism is the term anthropologists use to describe the opinion that one’s own way of life is natural or correct. Some would simply call it cultural ignorance.
Ethnocentrism means that one may see his/her own culture as the correct way of living. For those who have not experienced other cultures in depth can be said to be ethnocentric if they feel that their lives are the most natural way of living.
Some cultures may be similar or overlap in ideas or concepts, however, some people are in a sense, shocked to experience differences they may encounter with individuals culturally different than themselves.
In extreme cases, a group of individuals may see another cultures way of life and consider it wrong, because of this, the group may try to convert the other group to their own ways of living. Fearful war and genocide could be the devastating result if a group is unwilling to change their ways of living.
✅ethnocentrism is usually define as kind of cultural egocentrism.
????Nationalism: Advocacy or support for the interests of one’s own nation, esp. to the exclusion or detriment of the interest of other nations. Also: advocacy or support for national independence or self-determination.
✅Nationalism & ethnocentrism :
Nationalism seems to have two sides: one where it builds community and pride, and the other where it gives nations the opportunity to disregard other nations and the world community. The second side of nationalism is what I would like to compare to ethnocentrism. While ethnocentrism mainly deals with culture, within the “imagined community” of a nation where culture is engrained, the two can be equated. While I am not fully aware of the motivations behind British colonization in South Asia, their treatment of the local citizens and government within that area can be connected to ethnocentrism: the idea being that the British way of life is superior to those they are there to “help.”
I would not label nationalism as either “good” or “bad.” but sometimes nationalism makes wrong like ethnocentrism. I strongly says Against ethnocentrism no ethnocentrism no ethnocentric mentality.
????????ethnocentric mentality should be remove for an ideal leader, for an ideal teacher, for an ideal speaker, for an ideal social representatives.otherwise we can't buildup an Ideal society, ideal community in the world
